Braves Reliever Tyler Matzek Nearly Arrested At Championship Parade

With so many stars on the Braves first World Series championship team since 1995, it appears one key piece went unnoticed at the parade in Atlanta on Friday.

Reliever Tyler Matzek seemed to stray away from the team float, running around with a Natural Light visible in his hand. Despite wearing his own Jersey, the Atlanta police took him as a spectator. One officer grabbed Matzek by the shoulder, refusing to let him rejoin his team.

The officer began to try and grab Matzek's wrist, seemingly looking to detain him. After a brief discussion with other officers, Matzek was let go and free to continue his celebration. The officers must've not been watching the World Series with a watchful eye.

If they were, then they would've noticed that Matzek was one of the heroes of the series for the Braves. Armed with a devastating slider, Matzek was nearly unhittable coming out of the bullpen. In four appearances, Matzek pitched to a 1.69 ERA, striking out seven in 5.1 innings pitched.

Not bad for the 31-year-old former first round pick, who was out of the big leagues from 2016-2019.
