Braves 'In A Really Good Spot' Ahead Of Game 6

Had the Atlanta Braves closed things out in the World Series on Sunday night, they'd now be sleep walking through Day Two of a championship-induced hangover. Instead, they have to gear up for Game 6 in Houston, and the celebratory champagne remains on ice.

They may have squandered away a 4-0 lead in Game 5, but Atlanta remains confident that they'll be sipping celebratory suds sooner rather than later.

“We're in a really good spot,” said Braves reliever A.J. Minter ahead of Game 6. “We're up 3-2, going back to Houston. If you told us that at the beginning of the Series, we'd be happy with that.”

Though they failed to close the door on the Astros at home Sunday night, the Braves aren't rattled.

“The pressure is getting here,” Snitker said. “We're in the World Series right now. There's no pressure. Like I say, it's pressure in the when you're trying to get here. We all want to finish this off, but there's no pressure.”

It would take Atlanta just one win to finish off Houston and claim their first Fall Classic title since 1995. But Snitker doesn't want his team thinking about what may lie ahead, he'd rather they enjoy the ride.

“They're in the World Series. My God, like I told them, 'You're never guaranteed this, so enjoy it,'" said Snitker.

Atlanta's ride would be a lot more enjoyable if they exit Tuesday night with a win, which they'll attempt to earn behind the arm of Game 6 starter Max Fried.

“To be able to be here, in this moment, I'm just extremely thankful, and honestly, ready to go,” said the 27-year-old Fried.

First pitch is scheduled for 8:09 p.m. EST, with celebratory or somber drinks to follow roughly three and a half hours later.
