Boston Fans Spread The Misery By Breaking Into 'Yankees Suck' Chant Following ALCS Game 1 Loss
Even though the Red Sox have won multiple World Series titles since the Yankees' last in 2009, their fan base still obsesses over their rivals. They showed us just how much the Yankees are on their minds by breaking out a "Yankees suck" chant after losing game 1...to the Astros.
Make it make sense, please.
When the Yankees come to town and Red Sox, or any other fan base, want to make it clear they hate the Yankees, then fine. Sing to the mountain tops how much you can't stand the most popular team in the sport's history despite their 11-year World Series drought. But how pathetic does a chant about another team look when they're not within 2,000 miles of the venue?
I made a similar statement when Yankees fans chanted "F Altuve" all year when Jose Altuve wasn't on the field. It was embarrassing and finally made the "rent free" phrase worthwhile.
The Red Sox would eventually recover by taking game 2 at home to even the series at one. They get back on the field tomorrow night at 5:08 pacific to hopefully get the focus off the Yankees and back on winning another World Series. Good grief.
