Astros, RHP Lance McCullers Jr. Agree On Five-year, $85 Million Extension

Lance McCullers and the Houston Astros have agreed to terms on a five-year, $85 million extension, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The right-hander underwent Tommy John surgery back in 2018 that caused him to miss all of the 2019 season, but he's been lights out since his return last year.

A 3.93 ERA will get you paid, folks.

The Houston Astros are expected to take a massive step back after losing star outfielder George Springer to the Toronto Blue Jays this off-season. That said, it made sense to lock up some starting pitching after already losing Gerrit Cole the previous season to the Yankees.

As those numbers show, McCullers has his stuff back and the team had enough faith to invest with a five year contract.

And I know, guys. We hate the Houston Astros for obvious reasons, but we can still be happy to see a guy bounce back from injury into a big time contract. Good for him.
