After Missing On DJ LeMahieu, Dodgers Now Shifting Attention To Marcus Semien
The Los Angeles Dodgers are now reportedly after former A's shortstop Marcus Semien. This makes perfect sense since LeMahieu stayed put in Pinstripes and the world champs are now expected to lose third baseman Justin Turner, who's a free agent.
Talent wise, the rich would be getting richer.
While a Justin Turner reunion is said to be "likely", Marcus Semien would be a major upgrade, and here's why:
Semien is a 3-time gold glove finalist at shortstop, but he's shown the ability to defend while in a shift. That means the Dodgers can trust the former A's shortstop to hypothetically play third base if need be.
Hardly any teams in the big leagues shifted their defense more than the Dodgers, so his defensive versatility makes him a perfect fit in Dodger blue.
Here's that bat that plays nicely combined with that glove:
If the Dodgers get 2019 Marcus Semien at third base--They're probably repeating as champions of baseball. From what we know about the Dodgers coaching staff, don't be surprised when they turn Semien into an MVP candidate.
