White House Says Joe Biden Stumbled Because 'It Was Very Windy'
As President Joe Biden was climbing the stairs to Air Force One Friday afternoon, he stumbled not once, but three times.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, again ... and then salute when you get to the platform?
White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the President was “doing fine” and mentioned the windy conditions to pool reporters, The Independent reports.
“It was very windy. I almost fell coming up the steps myself," she said. "He is doing 100%. He’s doing fine. He’s preparing for the trip just fine.”
The Independent reports the stumble up the stairs comes "amid question over the aging president’s fitness for office after referring to his vice president as 'President Harris.'"
"Now when President Harris and I took a virtual tour of a vaccination center in Arizona ...," Biden said Thursday.
He went on to speak about a virtual tour experience he recently had with the vice president and how a nurse said each vaccination she administered was like giving a "dose of hope to people."
White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield also reassured the public on the President's stumble, saying it was "nothing more than a misstep on the stairs."
"I know folks have seen that President Biden slipped on his way up the stairs to AF1," Bedingfield tweeted. "But I’m happy to report that he is just fine and did not even require any attention from the medical team who travels with him."
