QB-Turned-Broadcaster Steve Young Isn't So Sure Tom Brady Will Be Good On TV

Do you think Tom Brady is going to bring his GOAT ways to the broadcast booth?

That's what many football fans are wondering as the 7x Super Bowl winner gears up this offseason for his upcoming NFL on FOX color commentating debut later this year.

Brady faces enormous pressure as he delves into the new technological, minute-by-minute era that we live in where social media reactions, trolls and more are ready to criticize anything and everything. He also has a lot riding on him financially, with FOX giving Brady a 10-year, $375 million contract.

STEVE YOUNG SAYS BRADY KNOWS FOOTBALL - BUT CAN HE TALK IT?

During an appearance on The Michael Kay Show on the YES Network and 98.7 ESPN New York on Friday, San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame quarterback and 20-year broadcast veteran Steve Young discussed with the hosts whether he thought Brady was up for this challenge.

After praising Brady for knowing the game inside and out, Young was still hesitant to give Brady his broadcast blessing.

"You never know [if Brady's going to be good in the broadcast booth]," Young began. "I've noticed that people you thought that would be great, weren't great and people that you thought weren't going to be great - were great. So it's just hard to know. You just have to do it, get into the groove of it. And it's also who you're with, and it takes some time too to just get into the "theme song" of what you're trying to get accomplished."

"What is too much information? What is not enough? [It's important] to get that feel," Young continued. "But certainly, his understanding of the NFL positions [especially being a quarterback]. I could talk to him all day long."

IS BRADY UP FOR SOCIAL MEDIA TROLLS RIPPING HIM?

Young went on to talk about how he and Brady talked about being quarterbacks, with the former 49er even admitting that he "learned a lot" from speaking with the Patriots and Buccaneers great..

"It was super interesting" [speaking with Brady] about his quarterback ways. I was coming from a dynamic, mobile-mindset, and he was coming from ‘I need to, that ball’s coming out, I'm not going to be able to run anywhere, and how do I get to the right answer before the snap of the ball," Young continued.

"I learned a lot from it, to be honest with you."

BRADY FACES A NEW TYPE OF PRESSURE

Okay, no surprise that Tom Brady knows the sport that he wreaked havoc on for years with the Patriots and Bucs.

Anyone who follows sports realizes that it's never easy for an athlete to transition over to the broadcast booth.

For every Mark Jackson, Troy Aikman and legends like Bob Uecker and John Madden - there are a TON of former players that have been awful when it comes to calling games.

Then there's people like Tony Romo, who initially dazzled viewers with his unique ‘predictions’ of plays during the beginning of his tenure. That is, until Romo began absolutely STINKING and mailing it in.

I have no doubt Tom Brady will put in the time and effort, but my question to all of you reading this is (and tweet us!) will it work out for Brady when it comes to broadcasting?
