Mother Revoked Of Parenting Time After Judge Finds Out She's Not Vaccinated

Rebecca Firlit has been in joint custody of her 11-year-old son for the past seven years. On Aug. 10, a judge revoked her of a 50-50 split in parenting time between her and former partner after discovering that Firlit had not been vaccinated.

The mother cited adverse reactions to other vaccines as her primary reason for not getting inoculated with the COVID-19 shot.

According to Fox 32 Chicago, the decision enacted by Cook County Judge James Shapiro was not related to any request proposed by the son's father. "We just wanted the mother to pay support," commented the father's attorney, before agreeing with the judge's decision that profiles the mother as a threat to the young child.

Firlit spoke on the judge's independent decision-making in the custody case, and how priority for vaccination status is hurting her and her son. "I think that it's wrong, I think that it's dividing families. I think that it's not in my son's best interest to be away from his mother."

“It had nothing to do with what we were talking about. He was placing his views on me and taking my son away from me,” added the mother.

The judge's decision raises new concerns over how parents' vaccine status may be a determinant among other custody cases around the nation as the call for mandatory vaccine passports gain steam.
