Marvel Actress Joins Anti-Mandate March, Calls For End To Vaccine Passports
Worse than Thanos' snap that eliminated half of the universe is the Biden administration's vaccine mandate strategy, which has effectively split the nation.
One person not willing to sacrifice their freedom for a Soul Stone is Marvel Cinematic Universe actress Evangeline Lilly.
The actress' pedigree and notoriety in Hollywood preceded a major twist in the story when she announced her opposition to COVID vaccine mandates — which the industry has proudly promoted, including the Disney Studios brass that oversees the MCU.
Lilly appeared in D.C. over the weekend at the Defeat the Mandates march. She went public with her appearance on Thursday after posting a picture from Washington on her Instagram.
The hedonist caption still managed to resonate with Americans that have championed an end to COVID mandates and restoration of freedom.
"This is not healthy. This is not love," Lilly said. "I understand the world is in fear, but I don't believe that answering fear with force will fix our problems."
Her message firmly self-identified as a loyal Democrat, with the caveat that she supports Americans' freedom to decline inoculation, which was destined to welcome an onslaught of negative press.
From Alberta, Canada, Lilly has gone on to star in the MCU's profitable Ant-Man movies and Hollywood's second-highest box office earner with Avengers: Endgame; also building a career on the silver screen as a prominent character in the Lost (2004-2010) series.
MCU actor Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) and actress Letitia Wright (Black Panther) voiced similar stances to Lilly's in the past and were branded as"right-wingers" by the mainstream media.
On both occasions, critics derided the actors and called for their dismissals from the franchise, which Disney CEO Bob Chapek and top Marvel producer Kevin Feige have gladly looked the other way on.
Thursday's news will ultimately be Lilly's second run-in with the media related to COVID. Online backlash in 2020 critiqued the actress for appearing in public without regard for COVID safety measures.
"Some people value their lives over freedom, some people value freedom over their lives. We all make our choices," Lilly said in an Instagram post, with the hashtag #businessasusual.
