Jimmy Johnson Says Skip Bayless Made Up Conversation
Skip Bayless dropped a nugget on Undisputed, revealing that, before the Cowboys' historical Herschel Walker trade, the "HWT," Jimmy Johnson tipped his hand to Bayless.
That would've been quite the scoop, if Bayless had reported it at the time. And given the risk, you have to wonder why Johnson would tell Bayless such a juicy piece of information? Maybe to brag? Doesn't sound like it. In fact, according to Johnson, he never told Bayless anything:
That's quite the story to make up, if Johnson is telling the truth here. It's fine to make up such a tale while drinking with your buddies who aren't likely to fact-check it. But on TV, it's risky.
By the way, the only conceivable reason Bayless wouldn't have reported the news at the time is if the conversation with Johnson had been off the record. But is there a statute of limitation on off-the-record talks? Bayless might say it's 30 years.
You'll never find the good folks at OutKick making up stories that former football coaches told us three decades ago.
