'Jeopardy!' Fans Like New Temporary Host Mike Richards A Lot

Since the death of Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek in November, the game show has been shuffling through guest hosts to try and fill the role of the veteran host who led the syndicated series for 37 seasons.

Contestant Ken Jennings took over as a guest host for a six-week stint.

Jennings' time as guest host ended, and now the show's executive producer Mike Richards has stepped up to the plate, and fans seem to love it.

The 45-year-old quickly captured the hearts of Jeopardy! viewers.

One fan said no one can replace Trebek, but Richards is "confident, charming, and easy on the eyes."

The outpouring of online support didn't stop there, with many calling to make Richards the permanent host of the show.

Richards told USA Today he didn't know about the Jeopardy! hosting gig until days before filming.

"I didn’t know I was going to be doing it until three days before, and so I had not prepared myself to host in the way that I know other guest hosts are," Richards said in the interview. "So there was just a lot to unpack."

Richards said it hit him "like a ton of bricks" when Johnny Gilbert announced his name, and at the moment, it was overwhelming.

"Plus, I also only owned one suit, so there was a little bit of scrambling there," he said. "It was very fun —humbling doesn’t begin to describe the feeling."

Richards, who has also served as the executive producer of The Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal, is considered a veteran of the game show industry.

In addition to his production credits, Richards has hosted game shows such as GSN’s The Pyramid and Divided, Fox News reports.
