Gold Medalist Would 'Rather Miss the Olympics Than Take the Vaccine'

Jamaican Olympic sprinter Yohan Blake is now saying he would rather miss the Tokyo Games than get the vaccine for COVID-19. According to current Olympic guidelines, they are NOT requiring participants to get vaccinated, but Blake wanted them to know where he stood anyway.

Yohan Blake is essentially letting the Olympics know he's his own man.

"My mind still stays strong, I don't want any vaccine, I'd rather miss the Olympics than take the vaccine, I am not taking it," Blake said to Jamaican newspaper The Gleaner.

"I don't really want to get into it now, but I have my reasons," he said.

Blake even took his views to Twitter to further explain his mindset ahead of he Olympics:

The two-time gold medalist never directly explains if this tweet was about his remarks to The Gleaner, but it's fairly obvious. He's really saying that if anyone decides to get the vaccine--that should be their choice, not their employers/government's.

As most of us here in the U.S. know, "following the crowd" has become the norm. One side of America concludes the vaccine is the safest path for themselves, but the media convinced these same people that folks with differing conclusions don't care about human lives. CNN and MSNBC will make Yohan Blake's decision to avoid a vaccine we clearly don't fully understand a morally wrong decision. It's a tired play from our media and we should fight against it.

But what's most uniting about Yohan Blake's decision is that he simply said he would not participate. No where in is remarks did he mention escalating the situation. He makes it perfectly clear that his rebuttal to hypothetical forced vaccinations would be to remove himself. If the Olympics won't operate on his terms to use his right to free thought, then they miss out on what he has to offer them.

This should serve as an example to us

Blake has a job to do, just like we do. What happens if the DMV decides that we can't renew our driver's license without proof of vaccination? How will we respond? Chances are that we'll have to take the same stance Yohan Blake takes now. To be free-thinking human beings that refuse to cower to the mainstream media.
