George Stephanopoulos Eyes Alex Trebek's 'Jeopardy!' Gig

Reps for George Stephanopoulos are lobbying for the anchor to become the next host of Jeopardy!, following Alex Trebek’s death on Sunday, a source told The Wrap.

ABC holds Jeopardy!'s syndication rights but will have to decide on a replacement with producer Sony Television and distributor CBS Television.

In May, Stephanopoulos told Howard Stern he had interest in the role but likes what he is doing now. Stephanopoulos would probably not have to give up his current roles with ABC to host Jeopardy!, which is a relief to a few people. A very few.

Stephanopoulos disguises himself as a neutral anchor despite his time working with the Clinton administration and a long history of throwing softball questions to high-ranking Democrats. Most recently, Stephanopoulos hosted a town hall with President-elect Joe Biden and promoted him like a member of the campaign.

Sound good, Jeopardy?

Whether it is Stephanopoulos or another host, no one can replace Trebek.

Alex Trebek’s final episode of Jeopardy! airs Christmas Day.
