Former MMA Star Tito Ortiz's Kids Sent Home From School For Not Wearing Masks

Famed mixed martial artist Tito Ortiz’s sons were sent home from school Tuesday morning after arriving at an Ocean View School District middle school.

The girlfriend of Ortiz, Amber Miller, put up a video on Instagram of the two boys walking into the campus of the school minus masks, which didn't go over well with those in charge.

The two boys entered the school with a document that claimed exemption from mask mandates based on religious freedom.

Miller said about a half hour later the school asked for the kids to be picked up.

The president of the Huntington Beach district’s board of trustees, Patricia Singer, said in an interview that "there is no such thing as a religious exemption.”

“The California Department of Public Health specifically says there are no religious exceptions for mask protocols,” Singer said.

“No matter who you are, you are to wear a mask on school property. If for some reason a child can’t wear a mask, for personal reasons or whatever reason, we offer a virtual academy.”

Miller was furious. “I will no longer allow this tyranny,” she said in the video.

“The mental health of your children is so much more important than following these guidelines.”

Ortiz has openly opposed both mask-wearing regulations and vaccines. The former MMA star said in a speech Monday that one of his children had complained about breathing and a headache.

“Dad, I’m having problems breathing. I have a headache, I’m light-headed,” Ortiz claimed his son said.

“I said, ‘Son, anytime you possibly can, take that mask off during class,’” Ortiz told the mass at the event.

Someone who isn't impressed with Ortiz' resume is Ocean View School District Trustee Gina Clayton-Tarvin.

Clayton-Tarvin said that, just because Ortiz is an MMA star “doesn’t mean rules don’t apply to him.”
