Facebook Upholds Trump's Facebook Suspension

Facebook's independent Oversight Board ruled Wednesday in favor of upholding former President Donald Trump's suspension.

The board, which is supposedly impartial, says Trump "severely violated" Facebook rules.

Severely, huh?

"The Board found that, in maintaining an unfounded narrative of electoral fraud and persistent calls to action, Mr. Trump created an environment where a serious risk of violence was possible," the board wrote in a statement.

"Within six months of this decision, Facebook must reexamine the arbitrary penalty it imposed on January 7 and decide the appropriate penalty," it said.

Facebook has 30 days to publicly respond to the Oversight Board's decision and policy recommendations.

OutKick reported Tuesday that Facebook had been reaching out to advertisers in anticipation of Trump’s potential reinstatement.

As pathetic as today's decision is, Trump is moving on.

Earlier this week, Trump launched a new platform to communicate directly with his followers: “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump,” at www.DonaldJTrump.com/desk. While followers can share Trump’s posts on Twitter and Facebook — for now — it does not allow users to engage with Trump’s posts.

In addition, Trump’s senior advisor Jason Miller said Trump plans to move forward with a new social media platform.

“President Trump’s website is a great resource to find his latest statements and highlights from his first term in office, but this is not a new social media platform,” Jason Miller said. “We’ll have additional information coming on that front in the very near future.”
