Malcolm Jenkins: Jewish People Aren't Our Problem and We Aren't Their Problem

Malcolm Jenkins, a CNN contributor and defensive back for the Saints, weighed in on the recent issues of DeSean Jackson and anti-semitism, calling it a "distraction" from the black movement and urging his followers to "stay focused" on their core mission of racial justice:

Jenkins' overall message was hypocritical in the broader sense of the quest for societal equality. Conversations about racial equality are not mutually exclusive with conversations about why it's problematic to invoke Hitler and praise the anti-semite Louis Farrakhan.

However, the video probably would've gone into the ether without the caption:

"We can honor the Jewish heritage and trauma while staying focused on what matters. Jewish people aren’t our problem, and we aren’t their problem. Let’s not lose focus on what the problem truly is, and that’s that black lives still don’t matter in this country.
Push this energy toward arresting and convicting the killers of Breonna Taylor and burning systemic racism to the ground. ✊?"

Yeesh. It's really hard to know where to start, but Jenkins clearly isn't building bridges by suggesting that we listen to him but pay less attention to the grievances of other people. DeSean Jackson is taking reasonable steps in listening about why what he shared on Instagram is wrong, but Stephen Jackson has a block at understanding why that rhetoric feels like dog whistles to Jewish people is very hard to understand and Malcolm Jenkins clearly isn't showing peak sensitivity either.
