Julian Edelman Welcomes Cam Newton to Pats, Tom Brady Weighs In

Julian Edelman welcomed new Patriots quarterback Cam Newton to New England on Instagram. Edelman was drafted by the Pats in 2009, and Tom Brady has been the franchise's starting quarterback that whole time, except for the stretch when Brady was suspended the first four games of the 2016 season for Deflategate and games were started by Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett.

Brady weighed in in the comments section of Edelman's post, writing: "I will always be your #1 ?"

Meanwhile, Jarrett Stidham commented with eyeball emojis on a separate Edelman Instagram entry that showed the wide receiver working out.

Cam Newton to the Patriots was a nice distractive gift for NFL fans this week, as the story is now in its second day of giving us things to talk and daydream about. Glad it happened, and it'll be interesting to see if it winds up working.
