Former Arkansas Head Coach Takes Over Texas High School Powerhouse

It has been just over a decade since Chad Morris made the leap from Texas high school football coach to the college ranks. His success on the next level has been up and down, but now he'll return to his roots.

On Wednesday morning, Texas high school powerhouse Allen announced that Morris would be its new head football coach. That news was made via Twitter and has created quite a stir on social media.

Morris left Lake Travis High School to become Tulsa's offensive coordinator back in 2010. Just a year later, he joined Dabo Swinney's staff as the play-caller at Clemson. That eventually led to his first head coaching gig at SMU, which he eventually left for Arkansas in 2018.

That move didn't last long, however. Morris went 4-18 in less than two seasons in Fayetteville, which led to his firing. After one failed season as Auburn's offensive coordinator in 2020, Morris has decided to give it another go at the high school level.

His 169-38 record (.816) as a high school coach makes his marriage to powerhouse Allen noteworthy. This should be an excellent fit for the way the Texas native likes to run his offense.
