Bryson DeChambeau Aims To Drive The Green On A Par 5

Bryson DeChambeau has big plans for this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando. At least, he does if you consider driving the green on a 555-Yard par 5 a big deal.

“If I play this year, I will definitely do it,” he told Golf.com in January. “No. 6 at Bay Hill is one of those I’ve been eyeing. I think I can do some pretty cool things on it.”

Should DeChambeau actually try to drive the green, he'd be the first player to give it a shot since none other than John Daly, who attempted the feat back in 1998. That didn't go so well. As Sports Illustrated noted, "Daly ended up hitting six balls in the water and making an 18 on the hole."

So just considering it is a daring move -- as the No. 6 hole borders a large pond. The distance from the tee to the green measures at 555 yards. But if you can go over the water, it's just 350 yards. On the bright side, DeChambeau is a man known for his distance.

He actually addressed it during Wednesday's practice round, joking with a group of onlookers at the No. 6 hole.

“Everybody wants to see this,” he said, cracking a smile.
