One Of The Best Shows On TV Announce Major Update
Production is officially on the new season of "Yellowjackets."
Season two of the massive hit Showtime series about a high school girls soccer team stranded in the Canadian wilderness ended last May with an insane cliffhanger. I won't spoil what it was, but the closing moments of season two were wild. The series is truly "Lord of the Flies" meets "Lost" with some supernatural/paranormal elements.
Fans have been desperate for updates. We've been eager to find out any information we can. Showtime and everyone involved with "Yellowjackets" has been pretty solid about not letting any information get out other than the tiny drip here or there.
Production starts on season three of "Yellowjackets."
Well, fans finally have a significant development. The show's official Instagram page announced Tuesday that season three is officially in production.
The announcement also featured several photos from the set of the timeline in the 1990s in Canada. Check out the announcement below, and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
The biggest takeaway from this announcement is that season three might actually premiere in 2024. The show doesn't require a lot of post-production.
If filming is done by the end of July, it's not impossible to imagine new episodes might start rolling in by November or December. This year is already stacked with great television shows. Adding the return of "Yellowjackets" would push things to another level.
Another observation is that all the photos shared of the season three production are from the timeline when the plane crashed - not the current timeline with the adult survivors.
I'm not sure how much we should read into that, but I hope it's a sign the old timeline will be the focus. "Yellowjackets" is simply better when viewers are watching the team fight for survival against themselves and supernatural forces.
The modern timeline isn't bad, but the 1990s timeline is by far and away the best part of the show. Plus, that's the timeline with Sophie Thatcher as Natalie, which is the best acting performance on the show.
Hopefully, season three gets here sooner than later. "Yellowjackets" is a hell of a show and I can't wait to find out where we go from here. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
