XFL And CFL May Partner Up In Future

With a number of football leagues popping up all over the place across the USA, the XFL dropped a bombshell on Wednesday: they may join forces with the CFL (Canadian Football League).

Both sides issued multiple statements on Wednesday, as the two parties try to come to an agreement prior to the XFL's first game back on the field in 2022.

"We look forward to seeing what possibilities our discussions might uncover, and to sharing those with our fans as the process unfolds," CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie said as part of a statement.

XFL chairwoman/owner and ex-wife of league owner Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Dany Garcia, did not reference the possibility of a merger.

She did mention that talks right now between the CFL and XFL are in the very early stages, and it sounds like it's going to take quite a while for the two sides to come to a deal, if they come to one at all.

Right now the CFL is hopeful that they can start their 2021 preseason in May, with games kicking off in June.

The XFL will not play in 2021, and the league has placed itself "on hold" as they look at all options before teams take the field for the 2022 campaign.
