WNBA Rookie's Rumored New Girlfriend Has America On Edge

I know I know – another WNBA story. ‘Zach, we’ve had enough! You guys have already met your Caitlin Clark quota for the day, move ON.'

I get it. Trust me. But, this ain't your typical WNBA story. This isn't about Caitlin Clark OR Angel Reese. Yes, believe it or not, other girls also play in the league (until a biological man does at some point, but that's another story).

The defending champion Las Vegas Aces drafted Iowa rookie – hey, that's Caitlin's teammate! – Kate Martin a few months ago, which was only newsworthy because Martin didn't really expect to get drafted. She went to the draft to support Clark, but that was it. Talk about a surprise!

Anyway, she's played well this season and seems to be a certified badass given the highlights I've watched (what a way to spend a Wednesday, am I right?).

Just this week, she also seemingly unveiled her new girlfriend, another recent Iowa grad – Claire Gransee – and set the internet absolutely ablaze.

Welcome to the show, Claire!

Kate Martin has the internet talking today

It takes a lot to grab America's attention. I know it seems like an easy thing to do – mainly because it's been happening once a month lately – but it's not.

I pride myself (come on, that was a good one!) on finding America's next star. On having the pulse of the country. On being ahead of the trends. A leader, not a follower.

So when I saw someone named Kate Martin trending over the weekend, my antenna went up. Didn't know what to expect when I clicked on her name, but I'm glad I did. I saw right away America's next power couple was here, and they were a humdinger. What a way to end June.

Look, I don't care if you're gay, straight, or one of the 18 other things out there in 2024. I do think the people who identify as cats are a little out there, but beyond that, whatever. Just don't shove it down my throat, OK?

And yes, I realize that's a tough phrase to use in this context, but I couldn't think of another one so here we are.

Whatever.

Anyway, America discovered that these two were a thing, and we've been on the edge of our seats ever since. Can't wait to see how this unfolds.

Zach grew up in Florida, lives in Florida, and will never leave Florida ... for obvious reasons. He's a reigning fantasy football league champion, knows everything there is to know about NASCAR, and once passed out (briefly!) during a lap around Daytona. He swears they were going 200 mph even though they clearly were not.
