David Hookstead Celebrates His Birthday And Movie Theater Disaster | Weekend Recap
Another awesome weekend is in the books, and we all know what that means:
It's time for another OutKick Weekend Recap.
First off, I celebrated my birthday this week. I enjoy when people ask me my age just because the range is so wide that it's hilarious. Some people think I'm in my late 20s. Others think I'm in my mid-40s. Neither is true. I'm 32. Ignore what you might read elsewhere. I'm 32, but my body damn sure feels older. That's what the grind of the content game does to you.
Having said all that, I'm not a huge birthday celebration guy. Not at all. A buddy bought me a couple beers while having some wings, and my girlfriend and I hit up Crooked Run for pizza and a couple drinks before I hit the bed early for a huge Saturday event. More on that in a few seconds.
I would like to say thank you to everyone who has been supportive over the years. Whether it's enjoying content, giving advice, being one of the boys or anything else, you're all appreciated.
I spent all of Saturday morning filming an interview with former Delta Force operator Dave Nielsen, and then spent part of the afternoon working on it. I can't wait for everyone to see the interview. Dave is an awesome guy with an incredible life story that is full of highs and lows.
Below is a little teaser I think you'll enjoy. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
Other than that, I hit up Dirty Water with a little dinner from Taqueria Al Lado II for some playoff hockey with the boys and kept it pretty chill overall.
Nobody ended up in jail or divorced. I think that's what we call a win for the weekend. I also went to an Alamo Drafthouse for the first time ever to see "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare," (full review coming) and I have to say, the theater was awesome. Never been in anything like it before. Yes, I had some Modelos. No, I won't apologize for it. Overall, just an insanely nice setup.
I did accidentally spill an entire box of M&Ms that was sitting on my girlfriend's food tray. I went to grab some and accidentally sent the entire thing flying to the floor. It was like a slow motion train crash. Not great when it's already not cheap. But we lived to fight another day.
OutKick readers celebrate the weekend.
To the surprise of nobody, OutKick readers, once again, absolutely nailed it when it came to having a great weekend. Let's roll with the results, and always send anything interesting you have to David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
While I'm not a fan of cleaning on the weekends (I generally do a little everyday so that it never gets to the point of needing mass cleaning), I can respect someone who sets time aside to tidy up.
The pickleball hype is real, even if I'd never do it myself.
As I say every weekend, it's always a good time to get right with God.
That includes getting right with God and spending a little time in nature.
Pour one out for all the homies who had to deal with bad weather this weekend.
While I think weed is degenerate and the vice of lazy people (let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com), I respect the rights of others to celebrate how they wish. For the record, this country won two world wars and went to the moon drinking cold beer and dark liquor. Not sure we did it with a bunch of weed. Embrace debate!
Sounds like a hell of a dad right here.
We even have a little NBA action.
I believe this is what I'd like to call an all-American weekend.
A record store? Can't even remember the last time I stepped inside one of those. It's been at least college.
Hell yeah we mow on Thursdays, and don't you ever forget it. Kinsey leads the way, and the movement only grows stronger with every passing day.
Who doesn't like a little fishing?
You know it's not the Weekend Recap without some solid dog content.
I need to know where this brewery is ASAP because the flags on the wall have me very intrigued.
How about some spring DIII football to wet the whistle ahead of the regular season starting.
While I'm not a soccer guy, I respect the hustle.
I can say with supreme confidence I have never seen an armadillo in my life.
Well, go wake it up!
Guys see this photo and just think hell yeah.
Honestly, how do you beat this view?
And some more nature.
I love the idea of a backyard picnic. Love it!
This looks like some great family time.
Nothing better than a great car and time spent with it on a weekend.
That's it for the latest Weekend Recap. Make sure to keep sending all your stuff to me on X and at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
