Waffle House Customers Throw Drinks & Plates Of Food At Employees In The Latest Wild Scene At The Restaurant
Anyone who thought that Waffle House had turned over a new leaf and become a place strictly for romance will be happy to know that the restaurant hasn't lost its wild charm.
At the drop of a hat, in the right conditions, the dining experience can and will descend into pure chaos. The right conditions presented themselves at an Ohio Waffle House at 3 am at the end of January.
Police have released video from inside the restaurant with hopes of identifying and charging a couple of suspects who were involved in the wild scene. They've already issued warrants for three of the participants in the drink and plates of food throwing melee and are still trying to identify two other women.
"We had this incident last month (January) at a Waffle House and lots of video evidence. Sooner or later, it’s going to catch up to you like most things do and we’re not going to tolerate that kind of behavior in the city," Franklin Police Chief Adam Colon said.
The newly released video shows several people dancing in their seats while a woman holds up her phone and records the good time. An employee asked the group to quiet down or leave the restaurant.
It's unclear if the employee was new to Waffle House or if they wanted things to get out of hand. Either way, the blame for what happens next falls on the employee here.
It's 3 am at a Waffle House and people are dancing and enjoying themselves. Are they loud? Maybe, but they're not standing on the tables or going nuts with their dance moves. The employees should be so lucky if this is all the trouble they encounter.
One Ill-Advised Request Can Turn A Fun Night At The Waffle House Into A Wild Scene
Unfortunately, one of the customers responded to the employee's request by throwing a drink at them. It was on from there with other customers and employees throwing everything that wasn't nailed down at each other. There were drinks, plates of food, napkin holders, and even a wet floor sign thrown during the chaotic scene.
An officer had pulled over a car at a nearby gas station and made his way over on foot to check things out. The bodycam footage shows some of those involved in the trashing of the Waffle House jumping into a car and driving away.
Police have filed warrants for three women, all from Dayton, Ohio, for various offenses from assault, to criminal damaging, to failure to comply. The other two women have two options, according to the police chief; turn themselves in and share their side of the story, or they can wait until officers come find them.
This could have ended much worse for all involved. The customers were evidently aware of the "anything goes once you cross the counter" rules and respectfully kept things from going that far.
We can only hope the buzzkill employee who set this all off learned a valuable lesson here. There's a fine balance between an uneventful night and one where you're going toe-to-toe with customers.
