Popular TV Show Changes Season Finale After Donald Trump Shooting, Issues Warning

The shooting of Donald Trump has impacted the popular series "The Boys."

The season four finale of the hit Amazon series was released Thursday for fans around the globe, and it came with a trigger warning.

Amazon released a statement early Thursday morning announcing the season finale "contains scenes of fictional political violence, which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life sustained during the assassination attempt on former President Trump."

"The Boys is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional," the statement continued.

It comes less than a week after Trump was nearly killed when Thomas Matthews Crooks shot him in the ear at a rally in Pennsylvania.

'The Boys' changes season four finale title after Donald Trump shooting

Amazon also made the decision to pull the episode's original title for something very generic, according to Deadline.

The original title was "Assassination Run." It's now simply listed as "Season Four Finale." The episode also features a warning of "viewer discretion advised," according to the same Deadline report.

One of the reasons changes to the title were likely made is because it almost certainly looks like a major assassination will be carried out, judging from the plot description that's still publicly available online.

"Calling all patriots! We will not allow this stolen election to be certified tomorrow! We must stop Bob Singer’s woke anti-Supe agenda! PREPARE FOR WAR," the Amazon episode description states.

Admittedly, I don't watch "The Boys," but it's obvious something similar to what happened in Pennsylvania will be shown. Amazon is looking to get ahead of, and releasing a warning is a smart way to do it.

The last thing the company wants is for people to think it's playing off the Trump assassination attempt when it was filmed a year ago. Let me know what you think of Amazon's decision at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
