Thailand Monkey Gangs Get Into Street Fight As Turf War Breaks Out

With Thailand now in its third COVID lockdown, the notorious street monkey gangs in Lopburi, called The City of Monkeys by many, have found themselves yet again lacking food from the tourists who feed the animals in front of a Buddhist temple.

Last summer, news emerged that these same sex-crazed monkeys were eating themselves to death via junk food or whatever they could get their hands on as the first wave of COVID killed the tourist industry. Then monkeys started going nuts having sex and breaking into any food source available to find food.

Now there's a report from the Daily Mail that the monkeys, facing yet another food shortage, have started battling in the streets as rival gangs determine who controls Lopburi. In a video showing the chaos, monkeys by the hundreds can be seen holding up traffic for four minutes as tensions boiled over and a wild wrestling match broke out.

"I was in a building near the temple when I heard the monkeys squealing. There were so many of them all stood together," one brave eyewitness told the Daily Mail. "I could see they were having an argument. Then they all ran onto the road and began wrestling. There were so many of them."
