Tennessee Man Robbed A Waffle House, Hid In A Hotel Attic, Threw Money At Officers & Fell Through The Ceiling

A Tennessee man had himself an early morning adventure on Tuesday that included some robbery, some assault, and some vandalism.  That's according to the police, anyway.

The man's adventure came to an abrupt end when officers used pepper spray, a taser, and some beanbag rounds to finally subdue the suspect.  It all started around 12:55 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

The Crossville Police Department says 31-year-old Jonathan William Beard assaulted two Waffle House employees while using a folding knife to rob the restaurant.  He was able to grab $388 before leaving.

After striking the two employees and making off with the cash, he was spotted at a nearby Red Roof Inn.  He made his way into the hotel's attic through a utility room door and the police were notified of his location.

Police say that once they found Beard hiding in the attic, he refused to comply with officers' commands and instead started throwing the stolen money at them.  That's when they began to dig into their bag of tricks.

The Tennessee Man Wasn't Ending His Adventure Without A Fight

In order to get Beard out of the attic, the responding officers used pepper spray, before tasing him, and shooting him with beanbag rounds.  During the attic portion of the adventure, he reportedly fell through the ceiling of three separate rooms.

According to the Crossville Police Department, Beard was charged with aggravated robbery, burglary, two counts of aggravated assault and four counts of vandalism.

The damage to the hotel rooms is estimated at around $30,000.  Thankfully, $381 of the Waffle House's $388 was recovered during the madness.  We may never know what happened to the missing $7.

What an early morning for the Waffle House and Red Roof Inn.  Something tells me that both spots are used to this kind of unscheduled entertainment.
