'Stranger Things' Star Drops Major Update On Final Season

The final season of "Stranger Things" sounds like it's going to be electric.

Production is currently underway on the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix sci-fi series. There's no set release date, but fans are hoping it returns in early 2025.

Details about the new season are also being closely guarded by the streaming giant and everyone involved. They could tell you, but then they'd probably have to kill you.

Well, we do have a little bit of news from Maya Hawke, and it will get fans more excited.

"Stranger Things" season five will feature very long episodes

The final two episodes of season four were pretty much standalone mini-movies. It was a bold decision from the Duffer brothers, but it worked incredibly well. It now sounds like fans will get more of the same with season five.

"Our showrunners, Matt and Ross, take a lot of responsibility. They have an amazing team of writers, but they’re very involved. They write a lot and they are very intense and serious about the quality of the continued writing, and it takes a long time to write each season, and it takes a long time to shoot them. We’re making, basically, eight movies. The episodes are very long," Hawke said on "Podcrushed," according to Deadline.

Did anyone else get mega-hyped at this line:

"We’re making, basically, eight movies."

If this doesn't have you amped up and excited for the final season, then I don't know what to tell you. "Stranger Things" has been epic since it's 2016 premiere, and getting eight episodes that are essentially movies is a bold move. It's very bold, and I like it.

Sending "Stranger Things" out with anything less than an epic ending would be a huge disappointment. The Duffer Brothers know it, and that's why I'm sure an incredible amount of resources is being poured into the fifth and final season.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that "Stranger Things" shows up as quickly as possible. Fans have already waited a long time since season four ended summer 2022. Don't make us wait much longer!
