'Office' Star Steve Carell Has A New Comedy Series On The Way: DETAILS

Steve Carell is bringing a new comedy series to HBO.

The powerhouse network announced Monday that the former "Office" star will lead the way in a new 10-episode comedy.

The plot of the untitled show is, "A single-camera comedy set on a college campus, centering on an author’s complicated relationship with his daughter."

That's obviously not much to go off of, but there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

Steve Carell teaming up with HBO for new comedy series.

Even though details are extremely limited, I'm pretty interested to see how this shakes out for HBO and Carell. There's no doubt he's one of the funniest guys in all of entertainment.

He was a huge part of why "The Office" was incredible, and he's had plenty of other funny content over the past couple decades.

Steve Carell has the kind of career most people can only dream of accomplishing.

HBO also has an established record of pumping out hilarious content. It's the network responsible for "Eastbound & Down," "Entourage," "Vice Principals" and "The Righteous Gemstones."

All four of those series are classics. Now, HBO is teaming up with the guy who played Michael Scott for a new comedy that apparently takes place on a college campus.

If you don't see the potential for jokes with that plot, then you just don't know comedy when you see it.

The bad news is this series likely won't be coming out for a long time. It was just announced Monday. That means you're likely looking at a late 2025 release date at the earliest. We'll definitely check it out whenever it does arrive. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
