SI Swimsuit Model Xandra Pohl Declares It's A Sporty Summer, Celtics Fans Fight & Bill Belichick's Girlfriend

It's Saturday, it's been a long week and all I can think about is tinkering around here which means I'll probably spend 10 hours working in the yard, so let's get rolling

First up, the pool project. I've been stressed over it for the last month. On May 9, I contacted a liner installer with a pretty daunting task: Renovate a 42-year-old swimming pool with wood walls that suffered a catastrophic tear and is leaking water onto the wood.

He was out a few days later to take a look. He wasn't positive the pool could be saved without work. There was no way of telling what we'd be facing until the pool was drained and he was able to take a look at the wood.

This week, the liner was cut out and his team determined the wood was fine, the floor was fine, and the pool could be saved.

There's still one more return line that needs to be cut in, but Friday afternoon, the water truck came by and we have a swimming pool again.

The timing couldn't be any better. The Weather Channel says it's going to be 99 on Monday.

It might not be the prettiest pool, but it'll get the job done.

Moving along, thank you to those who sent in their Father's Day Grilling Guide submissions for Sunday Screencaps Editor SeanJo. He has a special post for tomorrow morning for the dads out there who want to crank things up tomorrow when they man the grill on their big day.

Where are the best Reubens in the United States?

- Mark in Russellville, Arkansas writes:

I've been reading for a while now and enjoy your stuff and what others send in. I would like to start a conversation of the best Reuben in the U.S of A! In my experience, the absolute best is hands down Slymans in Cleveland.

It's a bit of a road trip for you but worth the drive! Get there by 10;30 a.m. or you'll be in line until closing time.

Kinsey:

A quick check of TripAdvisor tells us that Slyman's is ranked No. 4 out of 1,881 Cleveland restaurants/delis/places to eat. I love a good Reuben, so this place needs to go onto my to-do list. I get to Cleveland from time to time, so now I need to go see if Mark and the TripAdvisor people are right.

I'm also adding Ponderosa in Coldwater, MI to my to-do list. I hear culinary travel is big these days. I might as well jump on the trend.

Fuddruckers and father-son first baseball games

- Robert in Aurora, CO writes:

First time emailing and a tad late on this topic but thought I'd share this photo. I'm visiting my parents in Branson, MO and lo and behold there's a Fuddruckers here! I whipped into the parking lot and snapped a picture.

I explained to my dad the reason for the picture and introduced him to Screencaps! He's 87 and I've been driving him to Springfield everyday for radiation treatments. Anyway, I mentioned the topic of first MLB games and we spent that days drive talking about our first experience.

It was the summer of 1977 I was 10 and we went to a Twins game at the old Met Stadium and they were playing the Yankees. Lou, Reggie, Bucky, Willie...I was in awe. We went again the next summer and saw Rod Carew get his 2000th hit. It was a great trip down memory lane and added some levity to the circumstances.  Thank you!

Teams that should've won a championship during a specific time period

- Daniel C. shares:

Lakers teams from the 60's. Huge fan of those teams.

Jerry West RIP, Elgin Baylor, Gail Goodrich and they did have Wilt Chamberlain for 1969-70.

7 Finals appearances, zero Championships.

0-6 Celtics

0-1 Knicks

Hard, but fun things

- Indy Daryl is back with a story of what he's been up to this summer:

Glad you had what sounded like an amazing trip! I am not sure my body would function after 150+ holes of golf…. Wouldn’t mind trying though!! (Wife would definitely mind!)

In a slightly different version of hard things, we made our at least annual backpacking pilgrimage as a family. It’s a wonderful time to spend together, outside away from any screen, car noise, lawn mower, roofing project, etc. that living in the city so readily provides. Always feel refreshed mentally and emotionally (physically less so after carrying extra and the 5 year old’s pack on the way out…) and look forward to it every year.

I think the most challenging part is switching from a solo adventure and figuring out how to pack for five! So many more pads, bags, snacks, clothes, that it can feel overwhelming. Always make it work though, and this year the five year old didn’t stop on the ~3 mile hike in to the camp site. A huge win in my book! Pictures are from sorting in the basement, to all packed up, to actually walking.

I hope you are settling in to the daily routine and looking forward to league mowing night! (TBH not gonna mow… I am beat). Have a great evening.
