Shohei Ohtani's Wife, Mamiko Tanaka, Is A Professional Basketball Player

Shohei Ohtani, the best player in the history of baseball, finally revealed that his wife is Mamiko Tanaka, who is pretty much the Caitlin Clark of Japanese women's basketball, according to the Insiders® who know Japanese women's basketball.

That might be a stretch, but you get the idea. Tanaka is no slouch on the basketball court. During the 2022-23 season, the 5'11 power forward averaged eight points a game for the Fujitsu Red Wave.

Ohtani made the big announcement Thursday via Instagram Story where he posted a photo of the happy couple standing in front of a plane that took the slugger and Dodgers teammate Yoshinobu Yamamoto to Korea for the upcoming Seoul Series.

Now, let's not forget that Ohtani claimed he had married "a normal Japanese woman" he'd known for three or four years. Talk about downplaying Tanaka's basketball prowess. Look at this woman on the court in the Japanese League.
