Shell Shocked: Florida Turtle Crashes Through Windshield, Cuts Up Old Lady
Imagine being 71, you survived the COVID era and now you're just out riding down I-95 near Port Orange, Florida on a Wednesday morning when all of a sudden A MASSIVE PROJECTILE CRASHES THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND BOUNCES OFF YOUR HEAD, LEAVING YOU WITH A MASSIVE GASH OVER YOUR EYE.
IT WAS A FLYING TURTLE!
Talk about when it's your time, it's your time. The great news here is that the 71-year-old who was left with a half-inch to an inch cut over her eye is alive and never lost consciousness through the whole ordeal, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reports.
The turtle 911 call:
As for the turtle, it survived, was fine and was released back into the Florida wild to see what other chaos it could conjure up. Before you think it's odd for a turtle to go through a windshield, let's hit up Google to do some research. It turns out that Georgia woman Latonya Lark had a turtle embedded in her windshield after mistaking it as a brick.
"I just remember shielding myself while my sister screamed my name," her brother told CNN. "After the turtle hit the glass, she was literally in shock and kept driving. I was the one covered in blood and telling her to calm down and call 911."
In 2019, a South Carolina turtle wasn't so lucky when it was killed via a windshield collision that caused $2,000 in damages. The turtle had been kicked up by another vehicle that sent it flying.
And then there's this turtle-windshield collision from 2016 when an Orlando woman escaped injury when a turtle flew into her car. The turtle in that case was said to have survived the ordeal.
