Ron Burgundy Makes Surprise Return To Jimmy Fallon
The world's most famous and greatest Anchorman Ron Burgundy returned in front of the television cameras last night by wandering onto the set of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night and didn't disappoint.
After Will Ferrell was mistakenly introduced, Burgundy walked out through the backstage curtains with his suave hair and iconic mustache that would make a Just For Men ad jealous before high giving all the members of The Roots house band.
"What are you doing here?" Fallon asked.
"I was just wandering around New York City for Fleet Week," Burgundy said without no hesitation, only to then be informed that it was a couple of weeks ago, to which the anchorman replied, "Well, that makes a lot of sense. There weren't any ships in the harbor or sailors."
BURGUNDY WAS WANDERING THE STREETS OF NEW YORK CITY
The conversation eventually switched to Burgundy's insistence on talking about the newly released Despicable Me 4 film which he declared as "one of the greatest movies of all time," before breaking into sarcastic laughter. When asked by Fallon if he went to the premiere, Burgundy says he missed it because he was down in Chinatown watching bootleg copies of it.
When asked about the cast and newcomer Will Ferrell, who will play the movie's new villain, Maxime Le Mal, the San Diego TV legend said that Ferrell stunk. "He's terrible… that's when the movie really starts to level off. When that guy comes on the screen, people began to walk out," at least on the bootleg copy that Burgundy said he purchased. The film also features the return of Steve Carrell as Gru and Kristen Wig as Lucy.
JOE BIDEN'S RON BURGUNDY MOMENTS
Burgundy's surprise appearance is the latest as the character has had a resurgence in recent months.
Unfortunately for the United States, anytime President Biden stumbles or actually READS the teleprompter - including awkward words like, "Wait for applause," and "Pause," social media will immediately begin comparing it to Ron Burgundy's famous scene reading his prompter. "I'm Ron Burgundy?" he asks with a question tone - to which the TV producer screams, "Who put the question mark in the prompter?! For the last time, anything you put on that prompter Burgundy will read!"
The same with Biden.
Burgundy's newly revamped popularity also allowed him to be a surprise roaster during last month's Netflix's Roast of Tom Brady where he ripped former Patriots coach Bill Belichick by telling him that it was Brady who brought all the Super Bowl Championships. That is, of course, before leading the sold out arena in chants that "Eli Manning made Tom Brady his b*tch."
Despicable Me 4 is out now in theaters everywhere. We'll see if Burgundy's right on his Will Ferrell assessment.
