Insane Twist Ending Of Hit Show Sets Social Media On Fire

Social media has been buzzing since the ending of "Presumed Innocent" aired.

*WARNING: THERE ARE SERIOUS SPOILERS BELOW. DO NOT KEEP READING IF YOU AREN'T CAUGHT UP. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED.*

The finale episode of the hit Apple TV+ series with Jake Gyllenhaal aired Wednesday, and to say it was wild would be the understatement of the month.

Viewers were hit with a shocking twist. Rusty wasn't the killer. It was his daughter who killed Carolyn Polhemus. Rusty staged the crime scene believing his wife had done it.

Little did he know it was his daughter he was covering for. You can read my full breakdown and recap of the finale here.

"Presumed Innocent" finale sets social media on fire.

Well, it's safe to say that I wasn't the only person left in a state of shock after eight episodes of the murder mystery/legal drama.

Social media was on fire with reactions. Check out some below, and hit me with your thoughts on "Presumed Innocent" at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

It was brought to my attention from a great OutKick co-worker that the ending of the book and the TV show are significantly different.

I never read the book by Scott Turow, and judging from the reactions from people online, most other viewers didn't either. I won't spoil the book's ending here just in case any of you are interested in reading it at some point. Just know the ending is *VERY* different.

What I will say is that I'm still in a state of shock at the twist ending after having more than a day to process it. Rusty's daughter was the killer! Anyone who saw that coming without knowledge of the book is simply lying. I refuse to believe people knew it.

At the very least, I definitely didn't.

Also, "Presumed Innocent" has been renewed for a second season, but it seems extremely unlikely Gyllenhaal will return. Wouldn't make any sense at all to see Rusty again. I guess we'll have to wait and see what we get. Apple created a masterpiece, and will hopefully do it again. Let me know what you thought of the series at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
