'Party Of Tolerance' Strikes Again: Seattle Cops Refused Service At Chocolate Shop

A Seattle-area business announced late last week that it had fired an employee who refused to serve a pair of Seattle police officers who tried to buy chocolates. "No, I won’t serve you," the employee reportedly told the officer. The Post Millennial called the shop to get its side of the story, but it was met with resistance. "Shouldn’t you be spending your time harassing homeless people?" an employee told the website.

The worker eventually added "…and go F*** yourself" for good measure.

Chocolati, the business in question, eventually released a statement on Facebook saying the company respected the worker's freedom of speech, but that the company didn't agree with that speech. Chocolati management added that they were "actively working directly with this team member and the local precinct to create a more inviting, inclusive and cohesive community for all."

Two days later, Chocalati owner Christian Wong figured out that he had a situation on his hands. That's when he dropped the hammer on the employee.

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

I’m a Seattle native, born and raised, and I love our city. For so many of us, this has been a rough year. To put it mildly, being a small business owner during this pandemic has been challenging. Like so many small businesses across Seattle and our country, we have struggled to keep our employees and to keep our doors open. Through this difficult year, we have worked to stay true to our values: That we treat everyone with compassion and empathy, and that we do not discriminate against customers based on our personal beliefs.

So I was shocked and disappointed to learn that one of our employees had refused to serve a Seattle Police Department officer at one of our cafes. We work to advance diversity and inclusion at our business, and for our team members to follow their passions and to be engaged in the critical issues we face as a city, and a nation. However, our team members cannot decide which customers to serve based on their own personal political beliefs. This simply is not an acceptable practice at our business.
That is why as soon as I learned of this incident, we worked to understand the facts of what took place, and we spoke directly with the team member involved. We also spoke with the Sergeant of our local SPD precinct. After fully understanding the facts of this incident, we came to the mutual conclusion that it was in the best interest of both parties to part ways with the team member involved in this incident. We also continue to communicate with our employees about our values and how we serve our customers to ensure an incident like this does not happen again. We will do better.
I look forward to meeting on Sunday with the SPD officer involved in this incident to personally apologize - just as I would apologize to any customer who was refused service on the basis of an employee’s personal views.

Our hope is that this unfortunate incident can serve to help show that communication, empathy and education are the ways we can find common ground as a community in this city we all love.

Finally, I want to thank all our customers and neighbors who have come out to show their support for our small business.

And would you look at that, Wong dropping "diversity and inclusion" like he's Hasbro with its diversity and inclusion department. Be very afraid when you see a company dropping diversity and inclusion. It typically means they specialize in hating cops, middle-aged white guys, guys who work on their cars, clean out shitter lines when they're clogged, fix electrical issues, etc.

As for the ravaged Seattle police department, it has seen 250 officers leave the force over the last year, and staffing is reportedly at its lowest level since the 1980s. Meanwhile, the Seattle homicide rate has exploded to a level that hasn't been seen since the 1990s. In 2020, homicides were up 48.57% over 2019. Burglaries were up 35% year-over-year.

A chocolate company fired a worker, but the idea that the cops are the enemy keeps spreading in cities like Seattle and Portland. How are things going? Businesses have to sit there and watch people shoot up heroin in front of their businesses, and there's no solution in sight because the police are worried more about a ballooning homicide rate.

Seattle has a huge issue on its hands, and the idiot who wouldn't serve the cop a box of chocolates is just one layer of the stupidity that has taken over in that city.
