If you thought fast food / fast casual food is expensive now, you haven't seen anything Jimmy John's founder warns
Have you been grabbing sandwiches while out Christmas shopping? That fast food and the fast casual meals you like to grab will soon go to prices unlike anything you've seen in your lifetime, according to Jimmy John Liautaud, the founder of Jimmy John's.
During an interview with Fox News Digital, Jimmy John said fast-food bills will soon "equal the minimum wage."
What's that look like?
"So if your minimum wage in New York is $17, that’s how much it’s going to be for lunch… I went to Arby’s and I got a 2 for $6, a shake, fries and that was $12.83 and that was in Illinois. So you’re right about there," he explains.
Liautaud explains this is the result of Joe Biden's inflation, in case you didn't already infer such a thing.
QSR Magazine, which tracks the latest industry news from the fast-food world, reports that we're going to reach a point in 2022 where consumers will have a big decision to make and it'll be over the price of that meal they've waited 30 minutes to receive from Chick fil A.
“We’re coming to a pretty significant point right now,” Fazoli's CEO Carl Howard tells QSR. “The consumer is paying a lot more for gas. They’re going into the winter having to pay a lot more for natural gas. So they’re going to get beat up. Restaurant prices are, I’ve heard in some cases, 10 percent higher. Grocery prices are through the roof.”
“You’re going to see a rapid rise in the value menu,” Howard adds.
Get ready for two-fer deals, the experts say.

And according to Jimmy John and the QSR report, the real pain is yet to come. For example, QSR reports that you can expect Starbucks prices to keep going up "to support margins, offsetting most, if not all, of the wage and labor investment" when the company announced it would raise hourly wages to $15 an hour.
The cost increase to the consumer will be in the 4-5% range.

Just wanted to give a short Christmas shout-out to radio station 97.1 WASH FM, which serves the Washington D.C. metro area. For the last several years they switch over to play nothing but Christmas music 24/7 around Thanksgiving on thru Dec. 25. Yes, that includes the dreadful stuff -- Mariah Carey, Madonna, and George Michael -- but it also includes many wonderful versions of 'Silent Night' and 'O Holy Night' as well.
In this day and age (and in a metro region that's part of 'Wokistan') I find it cheerful and not a little hopeful that a commercial radio station can still go 24/7 with Christmas music for over a month, playing many religious-themed songs as well.

The earliest mention of "Silent Night" playing on the radio that I could find via the New York Times archive (I know, I know, I know that you guys despise that woke newspaper, but the archives are handy) is in 1924 when it was news that stations around the country planned to play Christmas music for a week.
96.5 KOIT is now the Christmas music station in the Bay Area and a quick analysis of its playlist shows that Amy Grant was played this morning, so we'll have to assume there's not some sort of religious ban at this station as well.

I know this is incredibly hard to believe because SoFi Stadium is typically taken over by road fans, but the Rams have super fans and that is a Ram mask made famous by Fernando "Ramses" Vasco, who says he puts on the attire as a tribute to his late brother.

• I've heard from two readers this week with ties to the area surrounding my hometown of Brookville, OH, a small town on I-70 that is famous for having a two-headed calf in its local history museum.
That's where we're headed this afternoon for Christmas festivities. My trips home are becoming fewer and fewer as the years start to fly by which makes it nice to hear from voices who can keep me connected to my roots. I'm sure tomorrow morning -- after Screencaps, of course -- I'll tell my wife it's time for a drive down Westbrook Rd. into Trotwood and over to the bulldozed Salem Mall area will trigger great memories of being 18 again. Little did I know what would become of that area and the life I've made. The hospital where I was born was bulldozed. The mall where I used to go see Santa -- bulldozed. My Little League is gone. Our local golf courses were closed and turned into farms. Hara Arena, where I got my start in professional sports was bulldozed and cleared. The trailer park where I would visit my great-grandmother to watch the Reds and wrestling was bulldozed and it's gone.
Yet I cherish these Christmas Eve drives.
No matter how hard it is to see places like my grandparents' house -- where we spent so many Christmas afternoons -- dilapidated and nothing like how they treated it, I must do these same drives year after year to remind me of how life changes, how quick this journey is and how looking back helps me push forward.
