Paige Spiranac Chugs Beer On The Course, Tiffany Stratton Adds Pressure & There Will Be No Ban On Cold Beer
Good news for those hoping to pick up cold beer at gas stations in Tennessee
The "Cold Beer Ban" in Tennessee is officially off the table. The original bill, which is still being worked on, would have banned cold beer from being sold in gas stations and retail stores in the Volunteer State.
The intent of removing cold beer from the stores was to eliminate the temptation of drinking and driving and to cut down on DUIs. Needless to say, it was not a popular idea among the people of Tennessee.
Mostly because the people grabbing a beer and drinking while driving aren't likely to care all that much if it's cold or not. Hell, they might even bring a frosty mug with them, or you know, just grab some ice.
Feeling the heat, Representative Ron Gant has decided to change course. He announced on Friday that the bill would not include a ban on cold beer.
"While the final version of the bill is still being drafted, it will not include any language that prevents the sale of cold beer," he said. "This was one of several ideas being discussed by stakeholders across our state."
There will still be all sorts of bizarre alcohol-related laws. Not allowing cold beer in gas stations or retail stores in Tennessee won't be one of them. For now, anyway.
Is Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles about actor Glenn Howerton?
Well, if anyone knew the answer to that question, you would think an account by the name of "girl dennis reynolds" would. The account appears to be officially on the fence, but made a compelling argument this week in favor of Vanessa Carlton's 2002 hit A Thousand Miles being written about actor Glenn Howerton.
Prior to being one of the main characters on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Howerton aka Dennis Reynolds was a student at Julliard.
According to the research done by the X account, Carlton once mentioned that the song is about a fellow Julliard student that she had a crush on. She didn't want to name the fellow student that she had a crush on, because he went on to become a famous actor.
I'm all in on these kinds of things. Is the song actually about Howerton? Everyone I come in contact with from now on will think it is, because I'm sold.
These are the types of stories that, even if they aren't true, they should be. Like the old story about Richard Gere, you know the one. And that one about Marilyn Manson - you also know that one.
Are they actually true? Much like Santa being real, if you believe in them, then they are.
After breaking the whole story down about Carlton's song being about Howerton, "girl dennis reynolds" concludes in a post featuring a clip of the actor, "the way it's probably not about him but it's funny to think there's a slightly chance."
Valentines Day Roses
• Joseph A from Elmira writes:
Hi,
We've been married for almost 33 years and my Wife told me from the beginning not to waste money on roses for here, especially on Valentines Day.
A few years ago I got her 2 dozen "Roses" for Valentines Day (photo attached). She loved them. She keeps them in her office at school and puts them on her desk for Valentines Day every year.
Most visitors get it, some quicker than others.
Love Outkick, Brightens my day.
This, like Pete Rose's career, is Hall of Fame worthy. It reminds me of a move my friend's parents used to do for occasions that would typically involve getting your partner a card.
They would head out to the store, pick out a card, and exchange them on the card aisle. They would read them then put them back. No wasted money on something that was just going to end up in the trash.
It's a great move, not one that would likely fly with my wife, but I love it. For the record, a bouquet of Pete Roses wouldn't fly either. My wife would be in the group of people that didn't get the reference.
That's all I've got for this Saturday morning. Hopefully, you have some better weather to look forward to than overcast skies and highs in the low 50s.
