O.J. Simpson Makes Wildly Awkward Joke About Never Confessing: VIDEO
O.J. Simpson isn't a big fan of confessing.
Simpson is mostly known at this point of his life for being acquitted in the brutal slayings of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. The 1995 trial is perhaps the most famous trial of the past 50+ years.
Instead of disappearing into a private life following a prison stint on unrelated charges in Nevada, the former Buffalo Bills RB has decided to become a social media personality and he recently shared some straightforward advice.
Don't confess to women.
O.J. Simpson encourages people to not confess.
The former football player appeared on the "It Is What It Is" podcast, and was asked about Shaq telling people to not tell women secrets, according to the New York Post. Simpson didn't even hesitate with his answer.
"When you say ‘open up to women,’ I don’t know what he’s talking about. Is he talking about confessing?…No man, don’t confess. I think he’s right. Don’t say nothing. It was your lying eyes. So, leave me out of the confessions…You all got to leave me out of this one," Simpson awkwardly joked when asked about Shaq's comments.
Cringe. Very cringe. You can watch his full response below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
On the surface, I don't necessarily disagree with O.J. Simpson or Shaq. Take everything, apologize for nothing is the outlaw's mantra.
Confessing can often just open the door to more problems. That applies to legal situations, friendships, relationships and other facets of life. I'm not endorsing lying, but less can be more when it comes to information.
However, there's a HUGE difference between me offering that advice and O.J. Simpson. Again, Simpson was accused and acquitted of hacking two people to death. In the eyes of the law, he's not guilty, but that's not how a lot of people view him. Many Americans believe Simpson is guilty as hell, despite his vow to find the real killers.
Yet, Simpson clearly thinks not confessing is hilarious. Why wouldn't he find it hilarious? The man has seemingly beaten the odds at every corner. He was a football star, beat the most famous murder trial of my lifetime and has successfully pivoted to becoming a social media commentator.
You couldn't make up that kind of arc if you tried.
Do you agree with Simpson's advice about not confessing? Have some other thoughts to share? Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com. I'm just stunned the man continues to make waves all these years later.
