Upcoming WWII Movie With Stacked Cast Sounds Awesome: DETAILS

Russell Crowe and Rami Malek star in an upcoming WWII film, and it sounds very interesting.

The two Hollywood stars are starring in "Nuremberg," and while there's no set release date, the details that are known sound very interesting.

Deadline wrote the following plot description about the upcoming movie:

"Based on Jack El-Hai’s book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, Nuremberg tells the story of [Lt. Colonel Douglas] Kelley’s interactions with the group of Nazi criminals tried at the end of the war. As well as [Hermann] Göring and [Robert] Ley, Kelley was the first Allied psychiatrist to evaluate Nazi leaders like Rudolf Hess, Julius Streicher and Karl Dönitz. And while the trials themselves have been adapted to film before — notably in Stanley Kramer’s 1961 epic Judgment at Nuremberg — Kelley’s particular take on what he witnessed has been largely ignored.

Kelley was young and eager to prove himself, but as he faced the men that had brought the world into its deadliest war, he came to understand the ease with which evil can pervade society. He returned from the trials determined to sound a warning that such a malignant slide would be possible again if it weren’t properly guarded against. But in the immediate relief of the war’s end, few were prepared to listen."

Russell Crowe and Rami Malek star in new WWII movie "Nuremberg."

Does that plot description get you amped up and interested? It sure does for me. Most WWII movies focus on the combat on the ground. Americans love watching movies about the good guys destroying Nazis in WWII. "Band of Brothers" - an HBO limited series - is considered the greatest war story ever put on film, and more than two decades later, still holds up as elite.

"Nuremberg" will focus on the trials of multiple captured Nazi leaders. It's an interesting and exciting change of pace. Plus, Crowe as Herman Goering and Rami Malek as Lt. Colonel Douglas Kelley sounds awesome.

There's never been a great movie or show about the Nuremberg Trials. There was a TV series from decades ago with Brian Cox and Alec Baldwin. It's nothing special and easily forgettable.

This movie will face significant expectations, and as a history buff, I can't wait. As people who love history know, the Nuremberg Trials ended in rough fashion for the captured Nazis.

Many were hung for their crimes. Now, a movie will shine a light on all of it.

Hopefully this film drops at some point in 2024 because we could use a great WWII movie this year. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
