The New Toys "R" Us A.I.-Generated Commercial Is A Mess

Toys "R" Us is saying the hell with your children.

The legendary toy store is getting absolutely rocked across social media after they decided to launch a new commercial featuring a child made out of artificial intelligence rather than little living and breathing Joey and Julia.

The 60-second commercial is supposed to tell the story of how Toys "R" Us came to be when founder Charles Lazarus had a vision that "would go on to change toy stores forever." Well, the new Toys "R" Us apparently has a vision as well: one that would rather use computer-generated characters that look not only creepy, but frankly just weird in general; some even declaring the AI commercial is an "abomination."

TOYS "R" US CHOOSES CREEPY AI OVER REAL HUMANS

Talk about a bold move and not knowing your target audience. Never would I have thought that someone could have screwed up the simple notion of literally just selling TOYS to kids - this ain't rocket science. Although, apparently, for Toys "R" Us it's computer science.

I would love to know the geniuses that decided to think that after the company went bankrupt in 2017 that they should thank new owners WHP Global and their 400 store partnership with Macy's by skeeving everyone out.

I mean just compare that new commercial with some of the company's classics throughout the years. Which one do you think excites kids (and customers) more? The vintage commercials or the new A.I. version?

TOYS "R" US GETTING CRITICIZED BY MANY

You'd think they would be able to afford a $1,000 talent fee for the child actor, rather than God knows what they paid for the AI editing.

At least the human child had a real hand and not this blob of pixels. Did you not learn ANYTHING from the Kate Middleton AI debacle?

As someone who grew up near Toys "R" Us and would literally go there to play video games or run around the aisles, the fact that they went all in on A.I. is beyond frustrating.

First, Chipotle cheated us out of burrito sizes, and now Toys "R" Us is ruined? Is nothing sacred anymore? Unless you work in tech, the average human will always want REAL people rather than computer-generated robots and algorithms, something that the toy chain is now realizing first hand.
