A New 'Lord Of The Rings' Movie Is Being Made: DETAILS
A new "Lord of the Rings" movie is on the way, and that's a reason to celebrate.
The original trilogy from Peter Jackson resulted in three of the greatest movies ever made. It's been more than two decades since "The Return of the King" hit theaters, and all the movies are still as great as ever.
Well, Warner Bros. is interested in attempting to cash in even more with a new film to be released in a couple of years.
New "Lord of the Rings" movie announced.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced Thursday on an earnings call that a new movie will be released in 2026, and the focus will be on the legendary villain/sympathetic character Gollum, according to Variety. The film will be titled "Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum," Andy Serkis will return to play the character and direct.
The project is in the stage of having a script written and Peter Jackson and his partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens "will be involved every step of the way" as producers.
The band is getting back together, and that's great news for fans.
Now, this isn't the first "LOTR" content since the original trilogy ended. There were three "Hobbit" films and there's an ongoing Amazon series.
The "Hobbit" movies were disappointing and the Amazon series is nothing short of unwatchable woke trash. It's terrible. How Amazon allowed that horrible series to ever be made is beyond me, but I digress.
What I will say is that if "Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum" is anything like the original three movies, then it's going to be a must-watch.
"The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King" are all amazing. The trilogy won a combined 17 Academy Awards and scored 30 nominations. We've never seen a trilogy as elite ever since, and it might be a long time until we do.
Now, Warner Bros. is going back to the well to bring fans even more "LOTR" content. I just pray it's not as bad as the Amazon series. I won't be able to stomach it if that's the case. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
