Morgan Riddle, Girlfriend Of Taylor Fritz Addresses Wimbledon Drama

Morgan Riddle's mission to "make tennis cool again" in the United States seems to be working.

National media outlets are now reporting on every Riddle Instagram Story update and every little detail from her trip to Wimbledon where she's been cheering on her boyfriend Taylor Fritz, who is attempting to do something an American male tennis player hasn't done in a long time.

Late Monday, after Fritz beat Alexander Zverev (4-6, 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-3) to advance to the quarterfinals, the tabloids came to the conclusion that Riddle might've broken some unwritten decorum rules and that Zverev was not happy with Fritz's cheering section.

Riddle, who is no stranger to social media and has made it her career via half-million TikTok fans, jumped into the fray Tuesday morning.

"Regarding my (Instagram) stories yesterday…i took them down as soon as i realized the misunderstanding and how blown out of proportion they had become by the media. they were not about anything that's happened off the tennis court & there's no bad blood between anyone," Riddle wrote on Instagram Story.

"super proud of (Fritz) for the match yesterday, thank you to the crow for the support & looking forward to tomorrow," she added.

After Monday's match, Zverev admitted that there might've been an issue with individuals in Fritz's box who "may not be from the tennis world."

Perfect.

Will Morgan Riddle save tennis in the next 24 hours?

Let's face it, the common sports fan cannot tell you the big names at Wimbledon. They might be able to utter Novak Djokovic because they saw some 60 Minutes feature on him, but even that is highly unlikely. The Williams sisters are gone. John McEnroe is now collecting Social Security. Jimmy Connors is 71. Chris Evert turns 70 in December.

Morgan Riddle turns 27 at the end of the month.

All eyes, and ESPN cameras, will be on her when she enters the Fritz box for Wednesday's quarterfinals match against Lorenzo Musetti. An American hasn't won this tournament since 2000 when Pete Sampras won his seventh title on grass.

It's been 21 years (Andy Roddick, 2003 U.S. Open) since an American male has won a major title.

While the pressure is squarely on Taylor Fritz's shoulders in Wednesday's match, his girlfriend will be moving the Google Trends meter.

American media outlets will make sure of it.
