MLB Great Steve Garvey To Take On Trump-Hating Democrat Adam Schiff

Former Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres first baseman Steve Garvey had a championship-level performance last night as he came up second in the California Senatorial Primary and will now face leftist Adam Schiff in November.

Garvey, who is a Republican, shocked the mainstream media by bringing in 32.5% of the Open Primary votes, just shy of Schiff's 33.2%. (Maybe the media should read more of OutKick - I accurately predicted Garvey's victory last week.)

To put it in sports terms, the 10x All-Star won the National League Championship Series last night with a stunning 4-4 hitting performance. But he's not done yet.

Garvey will now have to do the political version of what he did on the baseball diamond when he helped the 1981 Dodgers win the World Series, as he squares off with Schiff to become the next Senator for California and replace the late Dianne Feinstein's seat.

HE'LL HAVE A BATTLE AHEAD OF HIM

As we all know, California is extremely liberal, and he's going against a career politician in Adam Schiff who ripped Garvey for being ‘too conservative for California’ as well as having Donald Trump's support. Schiff is an adamant hater of Trump, he was the one that led the former President's impeachment hearings.

The fact of the matter is that Garvey is an outsider candidate - but he can use that to his advantage. He came in and ran for Senate not because he wanted to advance his own personal political aspects but because he thinks California should and needs to do better. He's about to go up against a juggernaut in Adam Schiff though - someone who has been in Washington DC and California politics for WAY too long and [presumably] has been involved in some, let's say "shady behavior," as many politicians at that level have.

But as they say in the sports world - never say never.

If I'm Garvey, I'd use anything and everything I can against Adam Schiff. The baseball great literally has nothing to lose. If he does this Senatorial run in typical political ways, he's going to lose. So he has to change his playing position as if he was a pitcher - come up with that curveball, that knuckleball - bring up some things that Schiff has been involved in the past - including his lying in 2019 about Ukraine and Donald Trump - something the Congressional Inspector General said that Schiff had ‘riddled with lies.’

GARVEY'S RISE

A new Los Angeles Times / Berkeley IGS poll has Garvey and Schiff neck-to-neck in favorable ratings right now. In fact, Garvey's approval rating went from just 13% in January to double a month later. Clearly, last night's 32.5% of voters backing him show that he is resounding with some.

Garvey has run on a platform of enforcing legal immigration, ripping California's rising crime rates and ridiculously high taxes, as well as receiving support from various law enforcement groups across the state.

With the Senate election in November, we're heading into the 8th inning of Game 7 of the World Series.

Fortunately for Garvey, he's been here before.
