Upcoming CIA Series With A-List Star Sounds Loaded With Potential
Paramount+ has a new CIA series on the way.
The streaming giant announced Monday that Hollywood star Michael Fassbender will star in "The Agency," and the plot details are described as follows:
"The series follows Martian (Fassbender), a covert CIA agent ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage."
Michael Fassbender to star in CIA series.
This is great news for fans of espionage thrillers, and there are plenty of reasons to be very optimistic. Paramount+ has an incredible record when it comes to producing high quality entertainment.
Below are a handful of the network's hits:
- "Lioness"
- "Mayor of Kingstown"
- "1923"
- "1883"
- "The Offer"
- "Tulsa King"
- "Lawmen: Bass Reeves"
Paramount+ pours an incredible amount of resources into its productions, and it's not afraid to push the limits. The network's serious dramas and action series are almost always great.
Now, a CIA one with Fassbender is on the way. The last spy/military show the network made was "Lioness," and it was a monster hit. The series with Zoe Saldana was one of the best shows of 2023, and production is underway on season two.
If "The Agency" has a similar vibe and feel to it, then it's hard for me to imagine it won't be great. Plus, Fassbender is a hell of a talent.
While there's no official release date, I'd guess summer 2025 is a safe bet seeing as how Fassbender has only just been announced as the star. I'm definitely interested. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
