One Of The Best Shows On TV Returns With A Bang: REVIEW

"Mayor of Kingstown" returns this Sunday, and it starts with a bang.

I'm a huge fan of the hit series from Taylor Sheridan starring Jeremy Renner, and I've been desperately waiting for season three.

Season two ended with the death of Mike (Renner) and Kyle's mother Mariam in a shootout with Milo and his thugs. Viewers briefly led to believe Milo had been killed before it was revealed that wasn't the case.

Now, it's time to pick up right where fans were left craving for more.

"Mayor of Kingstown" gets off to a hot start in season three.

Fortunately, I was able to get an early look at the premiere episode of "Mayor of Kingstown" ahead of its Sunday return.

While I can't get into plot specifics or spoilers prior to the episode airing, I can tell you that the premiere episode is everything fans are hoping for.

First off, it's great to see Renner in prime form following a nearly fatal plowing accident at the start of 2023. He's lucky to be alive, but he's definitely not slowed down at all.

Renner crushes it, once again, as Mike McLusky - the ultimate fixer of the prison-dominated town of Kingstown.

With a war being brought to his front door and his mother in the ground, Mike and his allies are out for revenge. It's time to find some targets and hammer them.

That's exactly what Mike, Kyle, Ian and Robert do right from the jump. The premiere episode includes a massive gunfight that is very on-brand for the Taylor Sheridan series, and the groundwork is already being laid for plenty of betrayal and backstabbing.

I wish I could say more, but I really can't ahead of Sunday. The great news is season three is every bit as dark, sinister, ominous, depressing and wildly fun as the first two seasons.

Unlike a lot of Sheridan's work, there's never been a light at the tunnel with "Mayor of Kingstown," and that doesn't change with season three. It's just pain and suffering, and I love it. Let me know your thoughts on the show at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
