Matt Leinart Loves Wendy's And He Doesn't Care Who Knows It

Nothing fuels post-op recovery quite like a …Wendy's double cheeseburger? At least that's according to Matt Leinart.

The former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback posted a video Friday of him smashing a fast-food burger while lying in a hospital bed. Leinart is currently on the mend from hip replacement surgery. And judging by his reaction to that first bite, he's having himself a moment.

"Nothing like a Dave's double from @Wendys high as a kite," he wrote.

Wendy's agreed, responding: "Pretty sure this is following standard medical protocol."

Not to say Leinart doesn't genuinely enjoy Dave's Double, but the post-surgery recovery did offer him a perfect opportunity for a product plug. The retired QB has had a partnership with Wendy's for quite some time now, and he regularly posts content promoting their food.

In fact, this past fall, he welcomed fellow Heisman winner and USC QB Caleb Williams to the square burger brigade.

"Wendy's has been great," Leinart said. "I've had a long relationship with them through Fox and our show. To be a part of this campaign with Wendy's — and I love Wendy's in general and the people behind Wendy's — it's been awesome. They're the hamburger of college football."

Wendy's inked an NIL deal with Williams in August, and he immediately starred in a commercial to promote the chain's new Loaded Nacho Cheeseburger. Leinart also made a cameo.

As for Leinart's surgery, he seems to be recovering well. Just four hours after the operation, he posted a TikTok that shows him up and moving — albeit with the help of a walker.

It is rare to see a 40-year-old getting an old-man surgery like a hip replacement, but Leinart said he's been dealing with pain stemming from an arthritic condition for more than a decade. Finally, he decided to get them both replaced.

'Atta boy, Matt. Just a few more biggie fries and a Frosty, and you'll be good as new!
