Marvel Introducing Gay Superhero Who Is LGBTQ+ Activist
Marvel Comics is introducing several new superheroes, influenced by the legacy of Captain America. One of them, Aaron Fischer, is openly gay.
As relayed by GamesRadar.com, Fischer is described as "the Captain America of the Railways," and his role is to protect "some of the most marginalized people in society."
"Aaron is inspired by heroes of the queer community: activists, leaders, and everyday folks pushing for a better life," series co-creator Joshua Trujillo said. "He stands for the oppressed and the forgotten. I hope his debut story resonates with readers, and helps inspire the next generation of heroes."
Trujillo is the writer who created Fischer, with Jan Bazaldua serving as artist. While Marvel has released controversial issues in the past, this is its first foray into the LGBT+ arena.
