New Song From Machine Gun Kelly And Jelly Roll Takes On 'Country Roads' Classic And It's Awesome

I'll be the first to admit that when I heard that Machine Gun Kelly was going country and releasing a song with Jelly Roll, I immediately cringed.

MGK of all people going into the country space? Seriously?

For better or worse, I'll admit I was wrong as MGK and Jelly Roll's brand new ‘Lonely Road’ - which samples John Denver's classic ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ is an absolute JAM. I literally cannot hate on it and neither can fans as it's already No. 1 on Spotify's Top Singles chart.

MACHINE GUN KELLY AND JELLY ROLL NEW SONG ALREADY TOPS THE CHART

Machine Gun Kelly and Jelly Roll perfectly play off each other as their over 15-year friendship shines, as both utilize their skills from when they were both aspiring rappers before turning towards other genres of music. In a social media post, MGK joked that the duo's new name would be ‘KellyRoll.’ He added that the new single took two years to complete as both artists worked on it across '8 different studios 4 different countries, [while also] changing the [vocal] key 4 times."

The duo performed the song last night for the first time and already the crowd was feeling it.

Prediction: ‘Lonely Road’ is going to be played NONSTOP in the coming months, so you better just get on board with it. Hopefully, the younger generations like Gen Z, take the time to learn and appreciate the original John Denver version as well so we can continue to pass the great music on to the upcoming listeners.

Machine Gun Kelly is just the latest musician to transition over into the country realm, following the likes of Post Malone who has a new album out featuring a variety of country musicians such as Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs.
