Leaked Internal Democrat Polling Shows Battleground States Turned on Biden Post-Debate
New internal polling data from Open Labs shows substantial declines for Joe Biden in swing states following his moldy debate performance last Thursday, in which he repeatedly lost his train of thought while dazed beyond repair.
"A confidential polling memo circulating among anxious Democrats is confirming some of their worst fears: President Joe Biden’s support has started to tumble in key electoral battlegrounds in the wake of his disastrous debate performance in Atlanta, and Biden’s diminished standing is now putting previously noncompetitive states like New Hampshire, Virginia, and New Mexico in play for Donald Trump," reported Puck News, which obtained the internal data polling.
Notably, Biden now trails Trump by seven in both Pennsylvania and Michigan – two states Biden almost certainly has to win in November. Biden also lost ground in Arizona and Georgia, both of which he won in 2020.
Should the Open Labs' polling data hold, the electoral map would shape out as follows:
Biden now polls behind several alternative Democrat candidates, including Kamala Harris. He trails Harris, Gretchen Whitmer, Gavin Newsom and Pete Buttigieg in every battleground state.
"Whitmer, the governor of Michigan, blows away Trump in her home state," noted the Puck report. "In the poll, Harris saw her favorable rating climb above Biden. As for the other would-be candidates, they obviously aren’t as well known as Biden and Harris, but OpenLabs tweaked their data to account for name recognition, extrapolating views of the lesser-known candidates to voters that don’t have an opinion using demographics and the voter file," the report adds.
Undoubtedly, Harris is the biggest winner of the internal polling.
Kamala Harris is not popular. She's never been popular – see the 2020 primary race. Harris is a career-long DEI hire. She also has no noticeable sway in battleground states, in contrast to Whitmer or Josh Shapiro. However, there is new-found support for Harris among influential voices in the Democrat Party.
Tuesday, Rep. James Clyburn, the most important congressman during Biden's 2020 campaign, came out in support of Harris. "I will support Kamala if [Biden] were to step aside. This party should not, in any way, do anything to work around Ms. Harris," Clyburn told MSNBC. "We should do everything we can to bolster her."
The New York Times, the most powerful media outlet within the Democrat Party, also argued in favor of Harris. "Kamala Harris Could Win This Election. Let Her," reads a headline from over the weekend.
Harris' betting odds to win the election jumped from sixth (+4300) Friday to third Tuesday (+200), trailing only Trump (-154) and Biden (+430).
A potential factor in the rising support for Harris: Biden's $200 million war chest. Finance experts say that cash can only be transferred to another candidate if that candidate is Harris.
Replacing Biden with Harris would also erase the inevitable backlash to the party – a party tethered to the DEI movement -- bypassing a black woman in favor of a white person.
Joe Biden's camp has repeatedly told the media since the debate that he plans to stay in the race. That is his and Jill Biden's preference. But anyone arguing Biden and Jill have more power over the Democrat Party than Barack Obama or former chief of staff Ronald Klain is naive.
If they want Biden to step down, he will step down.
Consider that the polling leaked to Puck was confidential. Someone inside the Democrat Party leaked the data to increase doubt that Biden is worthy of staying on the ticket.
