Biggest Las Vegas Scams Revealed On Reddit, And One Is A Glaring Issue

People are pulling back the curtain on the biggest scams in Las Vegas.

As I've said far too many times to count, I'm a huge fan of Las Vegas. I love Sin City. It's a blast every single time I go.

Whether it's gambling or having a few cold beers, the city is designed to make sure tourists have the best time imaginable. It succeeds in that mission.

However, it's not without its flaws.

Reddit users expose biggest Las Vegas scams.

A viral Reddit thread is blowing up for exposing the biggest scams in Vegas, and the information is pretty useful.

Check out some of the responses below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com:

  • 6-5 Blackjack.
  • Yes. All of the increased house odds are f*cked. Triple zero roulette is f*cking insane
  • Service fees on restaurant tabs.
  • Paying $50+ for a shaded pool chair after you're already paying to use the pool amenities lol.
  • Weed stores downtown that don't have any THC.
  • 000 roulette and 6:5 blackjack.
  • Resort fees are the biggest scams out there.
  • I think we should also add parking to that. Years of free parking and free valet and all of a sudden they can’t afford not to charge you for parking. Resort fees and parking are the worst!
  • Those $60 frozen drinks. Always seems like a good idea until it’s in your hand and you realize how you need to calm down you just got here.
  • 45 dollar drinks. I still consider it a scam but it is the norm at events for double cocktails
  • Outside the resorts? Cd flippers, the cartoons/girls outside the Bellagio fountains, getting long hauled with a taxi, anything bought from a stranger on the strip. Inside? Worsening odds, 6/5 blackjack, triple zero roulette, $18 dollar mixed well cocktails, $9 beers, the pretty girl into you, F1 prices. True scams? hookers/escorts, pickpockets, people with fake sob stories, 3 card Monty, "hot" girls to your room. Those social media people who charge you for a jackpot…. Still love Vegas and go very often. But now just stay at the resort and Uber to dinners/shows. Never have felt unsafe but in my older years I don’t have the patience for people’s sh*t. I refuse to cross over to the east side of the strip as I feel it’s just rip off city unless you are down near the Venetian.
  • The pretty girl into you lol. That's the best part. It's all a fantasy.
  • Gambling, tipping people who do nothing.

This isn't even a hard topic for me to break down and react to. The biggest scam in Las Vegas *BY FAR* is 6:5 blackjack over the traditional 3:2.

Anyone who plays 6:5 blackjack might as well just donate their money to the casino. Even with perfect strategy, the house advantage is comical compared to traditional 3:2, which might have a house edge as low as .5%.

I don't like calling people idiots, but you're an idiot if you walk into a casino to play 6:5 blackjack. What casinos do is drop the table minimums on the 6:5 table so people think they're getting a bargain. In reality, you're better off playing a 3:2 table with a higher minimum and lower house edge. You're still going to lose over time, but your expected loss is significantly lower. Don't get suckered into 6:5 blackjack, and don't even get me started on 000 roulette. I don't play roulette to begin with, but I wouldn't be caught dead playing 000 roulette.

Stick to 3:2 blackjack tables, and go to places like the El Cortez or Ellis Island if you want cheap table minimums. Don't let your bankroll get crushed by 6:5 blackjack. Is there a scam you know about in Las Vegas? Let me know about it at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
